The Holy Spirit Gives Us the Fruits of the Spirit

When we ask God to come into our lives, the Holy Spirit comes to live within us. The Holy Spirit causes change in people’s lives to help fulfill God’s purpose in their lives. When these changes occur, it shows as a growth of character, which is “fruit of the spirit”. A Christian’s character grows over time to include all the fruits of the spirit. It is holiness taking root in you. It is something you ARE, not just something you do or think.

 

The Bible tells us in Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. There is no law against these things.

 

Find new meaning in each of the fruits with the descriptions given..

 

Love –       God is Love                                        

 

Joy – A feeling of grinning inside              

 

Peace –     What the nations of the world need… a peace conference with the “Prince of Peace”

 

Patience – True patience is waiting without worrying              

 

Kindness – How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it

Goodness – Consists not so much in the outward things we do, but in the inward things we are

 

Faithfulness -Lives where love is stronger than instinct         

 

Gentleness – Nothing is so strong as gentleness and nothing is so  gentle as real strength

 

Self-Control –    Be strong enough to control your temper instead of it controlling you

 

 

 

Ask God to send his Holy Spirit to live inside your heart and make these changes in your character so you can experience all of God’s blessings in your lives.

 Jesus said in John 14:26, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
