God’s Financial Plan – Part 4

In God’s Financial Plan – Part 1 we learned God has a plan for our lives, including a financial plan for us to follow. We can learn how to manage money properly from the bible. As we learn what God wants us to do with the money He gives us, we will also learn about His promised blessings.

Part 2 of God’s Financial Plan  showed us how important it is in putting God first in our lives rather than material possessions. We also learned that everything on earth comes from God and it is owned by God.

Part 3 of God’s Financial Plan  reminded us everything we have is God’s. He has the right to tell us what to do with all that He gives us. God’s word tells us to bring our tithes to His house. God wants us to test Him…give to Him and see Him give us more. You cannot out-give God!

God wants us to give purposefully: 1) to provide for His work; 2) to prove His faithfulness; 3) to provide for the need of others whose greatest need is the truth of God; 4) properly honor God. There are 3 things that make a person think they cannot give to God: loss of income, mismanagement of finances, or disobedience. When God gives to us, His motivation is simply that He loves us. His love is unconditional but His blessings are not.

In Haggai 1:5-7, the bible says, “This is what the Lord Almighty says: Consider how things are going for you! You have planted much but harvested little. You have food to eat, but not enough to fill you up. You have wine to drink, but not enough to satisfy your thirst. You have clothing to wear, but not enough to keep you warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes! This is what the Lord Almighty says: Consider how things are going for you!” Wow, that is powerful, isn’t it?

Consider your life today. Are you where you need to be? Is your relationship with God what it should be? God has a purpose for us in life. To serve that purpose, we need to give.

If we give to the Lord, He shall bless us.
